Audio Spelling Quiz

How it works

The game uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API (no third-party services per plan.md Section 0.7). When a round starts, your device speaks the target word out loud. You type the spelling and submit.

Each level has a per-level replay budget — easy levels give you 4 replays per round, bonus levels give you only 1. Save replays for the words you're least sure of.

Strategy tips

• Use the hint. Each round shows a one-line topic clue ("Large body of salt water" → OCEAN). It narrows ambiguous-sounding words.
• Replay strategically. The replay budget shrinks with difficulty (4 → 3 → 2 → 1). On bonus levels you get one shot at the audio per round.
• Type as you hear. Don't wait for the whole word to be spoken — start typing the first syllable while the rest is still playing.

Browser support

The Web Speech API works in Chrome, Edge, Safari, and most modern browsers. If you're on an older browser without speech support, you'll see a notice — try Chrome or Edge for the best experience.
