Wordle Solver

Type your green/yellow/gray clues. Get every 5-letter word that fits.

🟩 Green letters (correct position)

Leave empty positions blank.

Format: LETTER:POSITION, comma-separated. E.g. A:0 means "A is in the word but NOT at position 0".

Just type letters with no separator.

Add a constraint above to see possible answers.

Phase 5 prototype with ~430 5-letter words. Real Wordle answer list (~2,300 words) plus the broader guess pool ships in Phase 6.

Worked example

Imagine you guessed ROAST and got: R gray, O yellow at position 1, A gray, S gray, T green at position 4. Then you guessed BLOOM and got: B gray, L gray, O green at position 2, O gray (duplicate), M gray.

Translate to the solver:

  • Greens: position 2 = O, position 4 = T (rest blank)
  • Yellows: O:1 (O is in the word but not at position 1)
  • Grays: RASBLM

Hit the inputs and the solver narrows down to candidates like SHOOT, SCOUT, etc. — all 5-letter words with O at position 2, T at position 4, no R/A/S/B/L/M, and an O appearing somewhere else too.

When to use the solver vs play it out

  • You're racing the clock. Solver in 2 seconds beats brute-forcing in 60.
  • You're stuck on guess 5/6 with one wrong letter still unknown. Best place to use it.
  • You're a Wordle teacher. Show students how the solution space narrows after each guess.
  • Don't use it on guess 1. No constraints means thousands of matches — useless.
