When to use this tool

  • You're stuck on the daily Anagram puzzle and need to confirm what's possible.
  • You're playing Scrabble or Words With Friends and want every playable word from your rack — try our Scrabble Word Finder for scoring.
  • You're solving a crossword and need words that fit a specific letter set.
  • You're a writer hunting for a word that contains a specific combination of letters.
  • You're playing the Spelling Bee and want to confirm if a word exists in the dictionary.

How it works

The unscrambler iterates the dictionary and, for every word, checks whether the letters you provided cover the word's letter multiset. So RETSAR (6 letters: R, E, T, S, A, R) produces matches like STARE, RATES, TEARS, TARES, ARSE, RATS, EAR, RAT, etc. — every word whose letters fit inside your set.

It does not require you to use all your letters (that's an anagram solver, separate tool). And it respects letter multiplicity — if you have one R, you can't get words requiring two.

Tips for fast solving

  • Increase min length to filter out 3-letter clutter when you're after substantial words.
  • Group by length is the natural sort. The biggest words are usually the most useful — check those first.
  • If you got 0 results, recheck your input — typos and accents are the usual culprit.
